Brewpoint
The Brief
Wells & Co (formerly Charles Wells) were investing £14million into building a new brewery in Bedford. They needed an identity for the new brand which would mark the Brewpoint out as modern and fresh, but with a nod to their 150 years of brewing experience. Once construction was completed, requirements also included wayfinding & signage, large scale murals, packaging and pump clip designs.
The Approach
The new logo is loaded with meaning intended to tell the brand story. Five arrows symbolically represent the five family generations of brewing. Founder Charles Wells’ seafaring history, formerly symbolised in the shape of a starfish, became the premium cue of a star shape. A contrasting arrow colour is a clear indication of a destination.
Post construction, Brewpoint commissioned myself and Richard Slade for a large scale project to design internal and external wayfinding for brewery tours, signage and murals. I was also commissioned to design the first range of beer can packaging, which went on to win international recognition at the Craft Beer Marketing Awards. I created an illustration which was sold as a limited edition print, and became the pump clip for craft beer ‘Hometown.’
Client Feedback
“Carli Pfurtscheller was instrumental in helping devise a new look for our new HQ. After being wowed by her initial submission for a potential Brewpoint logo, we were keen to work more closely with Carli in devising all of the ‘wayfinding’ for the site, including vinyl decals for the beer garden and restaurant, bar and brewery tour signage. Carli has also since turned her hand to creating the packaging for the very first beers to be brewed; if you’ve enjoyed a pint of On Point by now then you’ve seen the fruits of her labour.”
